The African Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) has continued its mission of training campus journalists across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to become the next generation of change-makers in the media industry. 

The organization embarked yet on another sensational mission unveiling the commencement of a 2-day capacity development training for campus journalists in the Southwestern part of the country, the venue of the training is Academy Suites, Oke-ado, Ibadan.

One of the participants who is a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Oluwatosin Ologun disclosed that the series of topical issues addressed by the trainers had exposed him to the nitty-gritty of the profession from a unique angle. 

He said, “Today’s training gave me a better understanding of how I can build a better model of campus journalism and make something good out of it.” 

Another participant, Ajibade Abdullahi, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University said “The facilitators were able to take us from a practical perspective which is quite important and, at the same time, a key motivation for us is to do more.”

The Executive Director of the Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals, Yinka Olaito while speaking at the training disclosed that they are on a mission to train media entrepreneurs and develop change-makers for the country’s media industry. 

The faculty for the campus journalism program includes renowned journalists, the like of Executive Director of Media Career Development Network, Lekan Otofodunrin. The Assistant Head of Investigations at HumAngle, Kabir Adejumo. The Executive Director of African Center for Media and Intercultural Dialogue, Suraj Olumifesi. A Senior Reporter at the Nigerian Tribune, Ifedayo Ogunyemi, and the former Acting Rector of the Polytechnic Ibadan, Femi Ipadeola.
