The Executive Director of Africa Foundation For Young Media Professionals- Yinka Olaito, had said “Breaking the Bias slogan for International Women Day 2022 is good but it is not yet uhuru’ .
Yinka Olaito made the remark yesterday March 08,2022 at two different national Media platforms he appeared on as special guest.
Yinka Olaito commended the progress the world had made with some women occupying strategic positions in our world.
But he cited ‘women in the workplace report Google 2019’, a part which focused on Women in media industry still have only 37% women in evening broadcast, 40% voices in Internet Media and 41% women voices in Print as against men still need overhaul.
Yinka went further to state Stereotypes are still very visible in news content according to Reuter 2029/2021.
The report on media industry big 240 in 12 strategic markets showed a lot of concerns.. The report stated: 24% of C-suites position in the industry is occupied by women. This include frontline media houses like CNN, Fox, Guardian etc.
The report according to Yinka Olaito also maintained just 16% of women on issues relating to politics are given visibility and that the news contents, items are still predominantly given women some superficial accolades to women among others.

Later in the afternoon, Yinka Olaito joined other experts at UNILAG FM Radio-103.1 to affirm women potentials are still been hindered seriously where religion or culture are still hostile.
Yinka Olaito believed religious leaders in such countries where religion and culture are very hostile must step up conversation if #breakthebias must be achieved indeed.
In all Yinka used the occasion to emphasis media related NGOs must continue to provide mentoring and capacity sponsorship programmes for Women so they can reach their maximum potential.
Yinka Olaito also used the time to emphasis Africa Foundation For Young Media Professionals’ multi-level intervention projects is embarking on to help , promote Women in the Media profile.
